Our study provided real-world evidence of an association between oral corticosteroid bursts (defined as oral corticosteroid use for 14 days or less) and gastrointestinal bleeding, sepsis, and pneumonia. We suggested that when prescribing oral corticosteroids, clinicians consider these potential adverse events.
